Start Out Part-Time by Selling at Flea Markets

Selling your wares at flea markets, swap meets and craft fairs is a great way to start to test the entrepreneurial waters for product-based businesses.
For instance, if you make specialty items, such as hand made crafts, candles or food stuffs, you can rent a booth at a crafts fair or flea market, often for about $25 a day, and sell your goods on weekends. This part-time business concept gives you an opportunity to start out small, test the waters and minimize your financial risk.
Even the most successful flea market business won’t provide you enough income to quit your day job - at least not right away. Many successful small businesses started out in a 10x10 booth at the local farmer's market, and, having achieved success there, opened up a web-based business or retail storefront.
On the other hand, like other small businesses, part-time ventures do fail. If there isn’t demand for your product at the price you are offering it, your business won’t succeed. Using this model, however, you’ll be able to fall back on your full-time income to cover your losses. Playing it safe using these tips will allow you to retool your business or develop a new business idea all together. As the old adage goes, “he who fights and lives today lives to fight another day”!
